VYAL GETS THE JOKER

VYAL, seen from behind, spraying a mural of a large surreal eye at night

Vyal One has been writing graffiti in Los Angeles since 1987. His trademark eye comes from his Chicano and Native American (Zuni) heritage, and his surreal, aerosol-built patterns have gone up on walls across the US and Europe. His work has also shown at The Getty, MOCA and the STRAAT museum in Amsterdam, and he still teaches art classes and workshops in LA.

On October 23, we dropped off his surface: an 8-by-8-foot banner for Joker (2019).
