Despite strong box office, Disney dismissed hundreds of employees … its third round of layoffs this year. The news lands as Pixar’s TOY STORY 5 clears $950 million worldwide, on its way to a billion.

The numbers closer to home are worse. Los Angeles County’s motion picture and sound recording sector shed roughly 6,700 jobs in the year through May 2026. Nationwide, trackers at Challenger, Gray & Christmas count more than 17,000 entertainment and media jobs cut.
